“Sold Out” is the favorite phrase of every sales person on this planet.
All of us sell something to make a living.
The crux of every sale is difference in the maturity of buyer & seller.
In fact, nothing would ever be sold if all of us had same maturity.
Example :
A person who buys a book at 20/- buys only when he feels it’s worth 20/- while the seller will sell it at 20/- only if it earns him a profit. ( i.e, worth less than 20/-)
The buyer very well knows that the seller is making profit, but he is okay to let go some money as seller’s profit because - in his mind, he is convinced that the book is rightly priced.
Now consider that both of them have same maturity, the buyer will never be okay with seller earning profit and the seller will never sell it at cost price; the transaction will never happen.
Like Pricing, there are different domains of maturity based on which sales happen.
These are metrics are a skeletal of the core business model, the brand, product, design, distribution is all just packaging.
